What it does

Quiet Corners Field Maps turns a rectangle you draw, or a named USGS 7.5-minute quadrangle, into a field-ready topographic map of exactly that area, printed on ordinary Letter paper at true scale. The sheets are indexed and aligned so they tape together edge to edge, Forest Service road-use seasons are drawn over the USGS Topo base, and every sheet carries the retrieval date of each source it was built from. The PDF is assembled in your browser: no upload, no account, no server. It is a feature of Quiet Corners; the privacy page says what the map services receive.

Status

Proof stage. The print engine is being built and will be physically verified with a ruler-and-tape test on printed sheets before this page is linked from the product. The controls below are placeholders until then.

Sources

Honesty rules. MVUM is a designation dataset published forest by forest, not a live passability feed, and not every forest is included. Seasonal dates are printed only when the source supplies them. A source that fails to load never disappears silently: it blocks the PDF, or you remove that layer explicitly. Each source prints its own retrieval or dataset date; there is no single composite “as of” date.

Limits

Contiguous United States only. Letter paper at 1:24,000 or 1:48,000. PDF creation targets desktop Chromium and Edge first. This is not a navigation or safety authority: confirm current conditions with the managing forest or land office before you go.

Printing instructions

Print at Actual size (100%) and turn off any Fit or Shrink option. Each sheet carries its own page ID and the IDs of its neighbors; line up the overlap strips by those IDs and tape the sheets together.
